Our studio reopened for in-person instruction on June 29th.  This page provides important information regarding our cleaning protocols and modifications to teaching practices for student safety.

Kim Studio Reopening Plan

Grandmaster Kim, our Master Instructors, teachers, and fellow students await anxiously our ability to reopen our school’s physical location.  The moment state and local authorities move Lancaster County to “Green,” we will adopt the following reopening plan.  Our first priority is and always will be the safety of our students, and we intend to follow Centers For Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to the best of our abilities.   These plans are subject to change as we continue to work responsively to evolving guidelines, infections rates, and our growing understanding of Covid-19.  Here is what you will need to know:

Modifications To Instruction

  1. In-studio and online classes will follow the schedule at the bottom of this page allowing for studio cleaning, managing class sizes, “airing the studio,” social distancing, and the use of personal protective equipment according to CDC guidelines;
  2. Students are encouraged to stay home if not feeling well and participate in online classes as appropriate;
  3. Classes will be 45 minutes in length to allow 15 minutes for passing between classes;
  4. Classes will be divided by belt levels according to the schedule (families with members of multiple belt levels will be permitted to choose a class to attend, together, and instruction will be modified accordingly);
  5. In-person classes will focus upon forms and technique due to the need for masks, while online classes will emphasize drills and conditioning;
  6. Social distancing will be observed through the use of overturned mats on the dojang floor (students will be assigned a training space and will remain there through class);
  7. Outdoor classes will be held at the studio as weather permits (students are encouraged to add a pair of sneakers to their gear for this possibility);
  8. No partnered work, close-in self-defense, or sparring work will be conducted until we are confident doing so will not result in the possibility of infection;
  9. Students must provide their masks and wear these before entering the lobby , as they make their ways to training spaces on the dojang floor, the wearing of masks is optional during class, and students must wear masks as they leave the studio, and
  10. All students and teachers will use traditional bows for greetings and signs of respect (no shaking of hands).

Please stay home and rest or practice using our online resources if you have had exposure to a person known to be positive for Covid-19 and/or have the following symptoms:

Coughing

Shortness of Breath

Fever/Chills

Muscle Aches/Pains Not Associated With Training

Headaches

Changes To Our Facility and “Traffic Flow”

  1. When entering the studio, students will use the main door then proceed through the small dojang leaving bags and personal belongings in the small dojang along the walls;
  2. Temperatures will be checked upon entry using a touchless thermometer (students with temperatures above 100 degrees will not be able to attend class);
  3. When exiting the studio, students will leave through the small dojang;
  4. Our observation room will be closed (no family members or friends will be permitted to use the observation room unless there is a medical necessity with a student);
  5. Students will arrive in uniform and only access bathrooms as needed;
  6. A cleaning protocol will be followed between classes (disinfecting bars, door handles, light switches, and office surfaces if the office is used);
  7. Floors will be cleaned, disinfected, and “aired” Tuesday nights, Thursday nights, and on the weekend;
  8. Access to the office will be limited to directors and office staff only (beginners sign-ups and office work with students and families will be conducted in the small dojang on our collapsable table and folding chairs spaced six feet apart or outside when appropriate);
  9. Our main exhaust fan will run constantly during classes;

Changes To Office Operations

  1. Office staff will not accept any paper payments for tuition or pro-shop items during classes (students may use our tuition drop box);
  2. Students may enroll in our auto-pay system, use our website’s “Student Payments Portal,” or place payments in our studio drop box;
  3. Our studio’s iPad can be made available to students and families upon request to make in-person payments; and,
  4. Master Rowe will issue monthly tuition invoices via email to students not on our auto-pay system (invoices include a feature enabling students to pay online with a credit card or Paypal account).
